The majority of e-mail marketing is on the "use it or lose it" side of the equation. When you use it wisely, it can be a great way to build customer loyalty.
The other side of the argument is when you use it too much. Too much e-mail marketing can be a terrible thing. There are endless examples of companies who've lost their customers because of their bad e-mail marketing practices.
The problem with e-mail marketing, like many of the techniques discussed here, is it's not about the customer. It's about the marketer. The good e-mail marketers know what they're doing and use the right techniques. Unfortunately, there are bad e-mail marketers who use it in a way that can really harm their customers. The bad ones are the ones who want to run away with the customer's money.
The good ones know what they are doing and use the right techniques. They are not trying to scam their customers. They want to use e-mail to get their customers to make a purchase. In this day and age e-mail marketing is a very effective way to promote a product or service. Unfortunately, most e-mail marketers aren't using the right techniques and their customers aren't making purchases.
A lot of e-mail marketers arent even using the right techniques. They simply send out a mass e-mail to everyone and say, "Hey, we're sending out this email to you because we want you to be our customer or friend." This message is completely meaningless. And as a result their customers dont even respond at all.
This is true and unfortunately you will also find many e-mail marketers not even responding to emails.
You might think you are using the most effective techniques, but the fact is that most of your customers arent even responding to their e-mails. If they are, they are sending out an automated reply instead. This is because most of their e-mail customers are not making purchases. So even though you are sending out that same message to everyone (even if you just want to say thank you), they dont even take the time to read it.
Most of the companies we work with send out an automated email to their customers when they are done with a purchase, even when they are not even done with their purchase. They have something important to say, so they send that automated response instead of spending the extra time to read it.
We're not sure why this happens with e-mail marketing, but it certainly has happened with others. We've also heard of companies sending out an email when they are done with an order, and then having a follow up email for them to contact them when they decide what to do with that order.
We don't have a lot of experience with e-mail marketing and e-mail marketing in general, so we do not know about this. This is only an example and we are not sure if it is the same thing.
